Dr. Mohamed teaches Islamic Studies at School of Social Sciences, Mount Kenya University, since September, 2013. He has more than 16 years of experience in teaching, supervising, mentoring, research and administration at Umma University, St. Paul’s University and Mount Kenya University. He was HOD Islamic Studies (2012-2015), HOD Examinations (2008-2011) at School of Sharia & Islamic Studies, Umma University, Kenya. He wrote several books and published over ten research articles in Islamic Theology, Muslim educational institutions in Kenya, Swahili Quranic translations, Muslim Kadhi Courts, Kenyan Christian-Muslim relations, Islam and Muslim communities in East Africa through international peer-reviewed journals. He attended many international and regional conferences and presented several papers on interfaith dialogue, intellectual security, tackling religious extremism and promoting peaceful co-existence between faith communities among other topics. In addition, he holds Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies (2008) and served previously as Humanities’ Coordinator for Post Graduate Studies and currently he works as Academic Leader for Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Language and IRE/Arabic Subject Coordinator at Department of Humanities and Languages (formerly: Humanities), School of Social Sciences, Mount Kenya University.
